I just realized I haven’t photographed cherry blossoms with a model in almost a decade. Woof.
Between the flower’s ephemeral nature, work, and me hiding from all of the pollen, it hasn’t happened — and I’ve been ITCHING to fix that. I’ve been meticulously mapping the sakura in my area, taking detailed notes of the blossom growth and lighting situations — everything. I’m very happy to say it came together!
I can’t help but think this marks some new beginnings as well. In 2020, right before COVID hit, I made the decision that my photography style was going to change. I’ve had this great desire to shoot more intimately and narratively, but I’ve often played it safe for a number of reasons. There’s obviously been a wait to make this happen, but like the flowers, I hope this marks a new season for me.
Thank you to Amy for always being so willing and strong! She braved a rather cold evening and was very patient as we moved through the concepts. Also — premium fashion choices. I can’t get over that coat. Want to show her some love? She’d appreciate listens over at her podcast!
