I really miss Asia.
Jade Music Festival is an annual, multi-city showcase of Chinese-language music from across the globe. Its final day was full of performances about identity, family, privilege, and migration. There was a lot of crossover between the acts (something that Jade, very admirably, pushes for).
Being there felt a bit like returning home, even as someone on the edge of the diaspora. It’s been so long since I’ve left Vancouver. It’s time to head east again.
Curious about Jade’s artists? Find them on the festival’s Spotify playlists!
