Shoot Description

This is embarrassing, but I’ve had real misconceptions about what counts as a cherry blossom. During my time in Japan, I went chasing for yoshino, so I’ve cemented that as what cherry blossoms looked like. White, five-petaled, delicate, and ephemeral.

So, when I find these deeper pink flowers, I assume they’re plum blossoms. Apparently, they’re kanzen cherries! (This should have been apparent, because I’ve had sakura mochi and they pickle these leaves for it; it’s delicious!)

This discovery comes at a perfect time when I’m expanding into nature photography. Portraiture will always be a focus, but I’d like to continue creating even without a shooting partner. Literally, stop and smell the flowers (and stir up some crazy allergies).
